Why letterpress?
Letterpress printing is the process of pressing a raised and inked metal or wood plate against individual pieces of paper, introduced by Johannes Gutenberg in the 1400s. The cast iron printing presses are operated by hand, and require a wealth of knowledge and skill to ensure an even impression and consistent ink dispersal across the design.
Modern letterpress printing swaps out wood and metal type for a photo-polymer plate, but still involves the same meticulous process of hand operation and dedicated understanding of the process.
Letterpress printing (and hot foiling—also done as a manual process!) allows for a tactile illumination of your stationery through the implementation of historical processes, executed in a contemporary manner. The deep impression left in the paper provides a tangible first impression for your guests and sets the tone for your day, while the inclusion of hot foil provides
a touch of luxury.
